Swimmer Kim Son from Duy Tan University Wins 5 Medals at the National Swimming and Diving Championship

Continuing to affirm his talent and competitive performance at the 2024 National Swimming and Diving Championship, swimmer Nguyen Huu Kim Son, currently a student at Duy Tan University, brought home for the Da Nang Sports Delegation as well as added to his Medal collection: 2 Gold medals, 1 Silver medal and 2 Bronze medals.

The 2024 National Swimming and Diving Championship is an annual tournament held between many provinces and cities and this year is hosted by the Vietnam Aquatic Sports Association and the Department of Culture and Sports of Da Nang. This year's season takes place from October 10 to 20, 2024 at the Hai Chau District Swimming and Diving Club, Da Nang City. This is the most important tournament in the competition system of the Vietnam Aquatic Sports Association.

This year, the tournament attracted the participation of nearly 300 athletes from 23 sports delegations of units across the country. In particular, Swimming has 18 delegations with more than 120 athletes competing in 6 events:

- Freestyle,

- Breaststroke,

- Backstroke,

- Butterfly,

- Mixed Swimming, and

- Relay Swimming.

Diving has 18 delegations with more than 160 athletes competing in 6 events:

- Speed ​​Diving,

- Equipment Diving,

- Double Fin Diving,

- Relay Diving, and

- Fin Diving.

Regarding Swimming, the host sports delegation Da Nang competes in all events and swimmer Nguyen Huu Kim Son is one of the elite athletes of the delegation participating in 4 events:

- Men's Freestyle,

- Relay Swimming,

- Mixed Swimming, and

- Breaststroke.

Showing his talent, perseverance and efforts in each competition, swimmer Kim Son has won impressive achievements including:

- 2 Gold Medals in the 4x100m Men's Mixed Relay and 4x200m Men's Freestyle Relay,

- 1 Silver Medal in the 100m Men's Frog, and

- 2 Bronze Medals in the 50m Men's Frog and 4x100m Mixed Mixed.

In the 4x100m Men's Mixed Relay, Kim Son competed with athletes including: Hoang Quy Phuoc, Nguyen Ngoc Trien and Nguyen Viet Tuong. All 4 athletes understood each other very well and supported each other wholeheartedly to win the prestigious Gold medal.

Kim Son shared: "Previously, at the National Swimming Championship held in Hue at the end of March 2024, Kim Son, along with Mr. Quy Phuoc and his teammates, competed and won the Gold medal in the Men's 4x100m Freestyle Team Swimming event. In this tournament, the two brothers' understanding was even more evident in each swimming stroke to achieve the best results. In addition, the youthfulness of Viet Tuong and the super swimming ability of Mr. Ngoc Trien increased the strength of the whole team to compete brilliantly."

Exercising helps Kim Son have good physical strength for success in competition and study

The time of participating in the tournament was also the time when Kim Son was taking the final exam at Duy Tan University. However, the seniors in the Da Nang Sports delegation and the teachers at Duy Tan University all provided maximum support for Kim Son to complete both his studies and competitions well.

“One of the advantages is that this tournament was held in Da Nang - the city where I live and study, so I did not have to waste time traveling. I also had more time to practice swimming, so I was very confident when participating in the competition. I was quite satisfied with the results of myself and my teammates. What I was most happy about was that when participating in this tournament, Master Dang Thien Tam - lecturer at the School of Economics and Business (SBE), Duy Tan University and many classmates came to cheer for me wholeheartedly. The feeling is so joyful and hard to describe, I feel like I have been given more motivation to compete at my best in this tournament as well as to try harder in the following seasons", Kim Son excitedly said.

With a determined competitive spirit and serious efforts to study at school, Nguyen Huu Kim Son has proven his ability to balance his sports career and his studies. Kim Son's achievements are not only a source of personal pride, but also contribute to helping the Da Nang City Sports Delegation achieve more achievements in many important sports tournaments over the past years.
